<p>PURPOSE:To obtain the liquid crystal display device having a high luminance and with less crosstalk by setting an interval between a picture element electrode and a signal electrode so as to become shorter than an interval between a signal electrode on a first substrate and an electrode on a second substrate. CONSTITUTION:A picture element electrode 3 and a signal electrode 4 are placed at an interval l1, and both of them are coupled electrically by a varistor 5. The interval l1 between the picture element 3 and the signal electrode 4 is generally 5 - 400mum. On a second substrate 6, a scanning electrode 7 is provided so as to be opposed to the picture element electrode 3. Between a first substrate 2 and a second substrate 6, a liquid crystal 8 is filled. An interval l2 between the signal electrode 4 on a first substrate 2 and the scanning electrode 7 on a second substrate 6 is generally 5 - 500mum. In such a case, the interval l1 between the picture element electrode 3 and the signal electrode 4 is shorter than the interval l2 between the signal electrode 4 and the scanning electrode 7. In such a way, it does not occur that a current flows to the scanning electrode through the varistor from the signal electrode, a normal matrix circuit of the liquid crystal and the varistor is formed and a display having a high luminance and a high contrast can be executed.</p> |
