Substituted thiazole-[5,4-d] thiazoles having the general formula <FORM:0995302/C2/1> wherein R is a phenyl or substituted phenyl group are prepared by reacting dithio-oxamide with benzaldehyde or a substituted benzaldehyde. The product may be subsequently sulphonated to introduce sulpho groups into the phenyl radical R. Compounds are specified wherein the phenyl radical R is substituted with methyl, n-propyl, n-butyl, t-amyl, methoxy, hexyloxy, octyloxy, decyloxy, hydroxy, chloro and/or sulpho groups. Reference also is made to carboxy-substituted phenyl groups. Specifications 770,494, 800,108, 843,497 and 850,281 are referred to.
