In order to improve a store (10) for items to be stored for use in storage devices automated by robots, where the store (10) has storage compartments (18) in a storage area (16), which can be taken to a robot grasping position, so that a larger number of items to be stored can be stored per unit volume, it is proposed that the store should have several storage units (14) in which the storage compartments (18) are arranged in a storage area (16), that there are successive storage units (14) with their storage compartments (16) in one stacking direction which are arranged with their surfaces facing one another, that the storage units (14) are mutually movable, that each storage unit (14) can be withdrawn from the storage position (13) by a movement transversely to the stacking direction and that the storage unit can be taken after leaving the storage position (13) to a grasping position (43) in which its storage compartments are in the robot grasping position.
