Flat-bed three=dimensional knitting - using needle control to give structured rows between first and final rows which are joined together

To produce a three-dimensional knitted prod. on a flatbed knitter, such as a virtually seam-free fashioned garment or a hollow core for a plastics body, initially the first row of stitches is formed to pass through or without interruption using the needles of at least one of the two needle beds. This is knitted to the required garment start width and from this, using the needle selection, patterned rows of shaped stitches are developed while at least in zones at the ends of the rows, and/or in sections of the rows away from the ends, the needles are temporarily stopped and restarted. The final row of stitches is at least partially bonded with the first row. ADVANTAGE - The final prod. is in three dimensions, shaped, and has only one seam joining the first and final rows which can be completed by an attachment.
