N,N-2,6-tetramethyl-4 -morpholinopropanamine of formula (I) or a salt thereof is claimed. (I) is produced by heating N,N-diemthyl-N',N'-di-(2-hydroxypropyl) -trimethylene-diamine (II) in the presence of an inorganic acid (III). More specifically (III) is H2SO4, and pref. amt. of (III) is 70-200 pts.wt. per 100 pts.wt. (II); reaction is carried out for 2-10 hrs. at 130-280 deg.C.
