Procedure for aging and maturing wine in the bottle in which it is marketed, characterized in that the new or young wines are put into the glass bottles in which they will finally be marketed, inside each of which bottles a strip or length of oak wood, preferably American, has been placed, preferably of a rectangular prismatic shape, with a square section or bases of approximately 0.25 cm2 and 19 cm in length, which bottles are then stoppered and capped in order to be kept in a lying position until they are marketed and consumed, with the wine maturing process being interrupted when the bottles are opened.
