An improvement with respect to both hygienic cleaning and the quantity of equipment involved is provided in a mop head (1) for washing or wiping floors which can be fitted on a mop holder (2) having two plastic flaps (3, 4) which can be folded back upon each other and having securing means (8) for fitting it to one end of a flap (4) of the mop holder (2). To this end, the fabric layer (11) has a pouch (13) on one short side and a strap (14) on the other, whereby the strap (14) can be tightly stretched on one flap end (4) with the aid of securing means (7, 8, 18).
