<p>In fountain roll apparatus, a fountain holder assembly (130) having a fountain block assembly (134) mounted thereon whereby a portion of a rotating metering roll (48) passes through a supply of fluid material (146) contained in a reservoir (144) formed by the fountain block assembly (134) and the portion of the metering roll (48). At least one metering blade member (140) applies a metered amount of fluid material (146) on the metering roll (48) as it passes through the fountain block assembly (134). A doctor blade (154) is mounted on an elongated body (220) having each end rotatably mounted on a lever arm (202, 206) pivoted to the fountain holder assembly (130) and resiliently biased to hold the doctor blade (154) against the outer peripheral surface (126) of the metering roll (48) to remove excess fluid material (146) therefrom. An additional blade (156) is mounted on the elongated body (220) in contact with the outer peripheral surface (126) of the metering roll (48) to ensure that the doctor blade (154) is properly positioned.</p> |
