PURPOSE:To make it possible to economically manufacture homogenous building material by a method wherein diatomaceous earth lump is shaved in scales and, after that, granulated or rolled so as to be mixed with Portland cement and/or lime, fiber and extrusion assistant, watered for water content control, and, after that, kneaded, extruded and formed and finally steam-cured under atmospheric pressure. CONSTITUTION:Diatomaceous earth lump in humid state as is dug is shaved in scales and, after that, granulated in granules having the diameter of 6mm or less or rolled with rolls down to the thickness of 4mm or less so as to be mixed with Portland cement and/or lime, fiber and extrusion assistant, watered for water content control and, after that, kneaded, extruded and finally steam- cured under atmospheric pressure. As the fiber, inorganic fiber such as asbestos, glass fiber, carbon fiber, wollastonite or the like or organic fiber such as pulp, polypropylene, polyvinyl alcohol, Kelvar, polyethylene fiber or the like can be used. Thus, homogeneous building material can be manufactured at low cost by employing diatomaceous earth as is duct without turning it into powder by drying and grinding. |
