PURPOSE: To measure an exhaust gas during the time of both stopping and running by comparing a measurement value that arrives from a lambda sonde with the exhaust gas characteristic data of a vehicle being filed in a computer along with another exhaust gas data measured on the downstream side from a catalyst machine. CONSTITUTION: An exhaust gas tester 4 is connected to the downstream side from a catalyst machine 6, the content of CO and HC is measured simultaneously with cold start, and the measured CO and HC values are transmitted to a computer 2. After an inspection is completed, the exhaust gas tester 4 is connected again, data stored during running are transferred to the computer 2, and an inspection is made by a warmed-up engine. In this case, the CO and HC content at the downstream side of the catalyst machine 6 is detected by the exhaust gas tester 4, the measurement value of a lambda sonde 7 is detected by the computer 2, and the measurement value is compared with the exhaust gas characteristic data of a vehicle 5 inputted to the computer 2. |
