The three electrodes are in a special structure which monitor the proximity of the window pane and which provide a stop signal for the window drive when the window is closed, or if an object is between the edge of the window and the frame e.g. a finger. The three electrodes are linked to an AC signal and provide a varying capacitance as the window closes. The capacitance signal is compared with reference signals derived empirically. The programmed reference store is updated every time the window is opened. Position sensors provide an accurate reading of the window edge position. The system is self updating and is relatively unaffected by changes in the electrode environment e.g. rain. ADVANTAGE - Improved safety, self adjusting.
