The moisture sensor features 2 capacitor plates (5,6) placed side by side between layers (1,2) of the laminated glass window. The plates are pref. made of metal-foil, an Al-layer or an InSn-oxide conductive layer. The laminated glass pref. consists, in the area where the electrodes are formed, of an outer glass-layer (1), a first adhesion-layer (3), the metal-foil (5,6), a second adhesion-layer (4) and the inner glass-layer (2). USE/ADVANTAGE - The sensor is less sensitive to contamination of the glass-layer than current sensors. The capacitor plates can be built inside the glass-plate and, if the InSn-oxide layer is used, does not obstruct the driver's view. The sensitivity of the sensor can be increased by using a large perimeter structure of the 2 electrodes, e.g. an interdigitated shape. The sensor is used to switch the windshield wipers of lorries.
