The oil flow at the outlet (22) of a pre-control valve (9), e.g. an electrically controlled pressure-limiting valve is measured, between two and ten oil flow values being provided by respective flow sensors (10, 11) evaluated via the machine control. Pref., the flow sensors are connected in series at the outlet of the pre-control valve and have respective response thresholds for different oil flow rates or are connected in parallel with flow restrictions (18, 19) with differing geometries. USE/ADVANTAGE - Machine tool, lather etc. Monitors set pressure and delivers deviation signals without delay or elaborate processor.
