<p>The power steering is actuated by a double acting hydraulic cylinder (8, 9), by means of two electric valves (16, 17), controlled by an electronic microprocessor unit (37). Both this unit and the hydraulic circuit may be integrated with the circuits of other servomechanisms of the motor vehicle. The unit (37) receives the information from a sensor (36) on the torque of the steering column (6), and from a tachometric sensor (39), for selectively controlling the electric valves. The unit is also capable of controlling an electric throttle valve (22) when a speed lower than a certain threshold is recorded, and of inhibiting the actuation of the two electric valves (16, 17) when a predetermined speed is exceeded.</p> |
