A three-dimensional image display which sets the direction for viewing an object image in real-time operation maintaining good intuitional feeling without using any hardware for conversion. The invention comprises surface model storage means for main image for storing the whole data that constitutes a surface model, surface model storage means for sub-image for storing data that constitute a contracted image of the surface model, coordinate input means which continuously receives changes in the direction of image, conversion means which converts the coordinate data produced by the coordinate input means into angle data of direction of the image, three-dimensional image calculation means which performs calculation to convert the surface model data into three-dimensional image data based on the angle data of direction of the image, switching means which is controlled by control means, which usually inputs the surface model data for sub-image to the three-dimensional image calculation means, and which, at suitable moments, inputs the surface model data for main image to the three-dimensional image calculation means, control means which inputs said angle data to said three-dimensional image calculation means and controls said switching means, and image display means which displays the main image and the sub-image on the same screen. |
