In a device for feeding cans to a continuous sterilizer provided with a moving chain with can holders for guiding cans through the steriliser, the cans are supplied in measured quantities according to the capacity of the sterilizer on a can supply belt (10). A counting device (14, 18) disposed near the end of the can supply belt counts out a predetermined number of cans from the supplied cans repeatedly at intervals and forms them into a group (16). The number of cans counted out per unit time is greater than the number of cans supplied per unit time, so that an interval arises between the groups of cans (16). The groups of cans are placed on an intermediate belt (15) for conveying the groups of cans to an insertion device (11a), which places the groups of cans in the can holders of the sterilizer. The number of cans in each group is such that the can holders are always optimally filled.
|
