<p>A stamping press (22, 22 min ) includes an transfer mechanism (24, 24 min ) for moving workpieces through progressive die stations. Two embodiments of a support structure (26, 26 min ) are disclosed for supporting the transfer mechanism (24, 24 min ) adjacent the press (22, 22 min ). Both embodiments of the support structure (26, 26 min ) include a first screw shaft (34, 34 min ) and a second screw shaft (38, 38 min ) which fasten the transfer mechanism (24, 24 min ) to the press (22, 22 min ) in an operative position. The first screw shaft (34, 34 min ) includes a first locking screw (40, 40 min ) and the second screw shaft (38, 38 min ) includes a second locking screw (54, 54 min ) for retaining the respective first (34, 34 min ) and second (38, 38 min ) screw shafts in an unfastened condition to allow movement of the transfer mechanism (24, 24 min ) from the operative position. A bearing (63, 63 min ) interconnects the transfer mechanism (24, 24 min ) and the stamping press (22, 22 min ) for allowing pivotal movement of the transfer mechanism (24, 24 min ) away from the operative position when at least one of the first (34, 34 min ) and second (38, 38 min ) screw shafts are in the unfastened condition.</p> |
