Disclosed herein is a laminate wood structure in the form of a board having a surface composed substantially entirely of edge-grain, the laminate wood structure comprising a plurality of elongate plain-sawn wooden strips each having exposed edge grain along at least one edge, the wooden strips being arranged in parallel stacked relationship to one another such that the surface is collectively formed by the edges of the plurality of strips.
