PURPOSE:To prevent the splashing of magnetic fluid by installing a seal body holding member having an installation part which is fixed directly or indirectly on a part of a fixed shaft and the magnetic fluid held in a fine gap part formed between the inner peripheral edge of a magnetic fluid seal body and the outer peripheral surface of a cylynder part. CONSTITUTION:A cylindrical installation part 20 and a holding cylinder part 19 which are fixed in externally fitted form directly at one edge of a fixed shaft 2 are connected by a connection part 21, and a seal body holding member 18 is constituted of the cylinder part 19, connection part 21, and the installation part 20. Magnetic fluid 26, 26 is held in a fine gap 25 formed between the inner edge parts 24 of the pole pieces 12 and 12 of a seal body 10 is standstill state and the outer peripheral surface of a revolving cylinder part 14. Accordingly, as for the fluid 26, though the centrifugal force Fi applied onto the inner peripheral edge is large, the centrifugal force Fo applied onto the outer peripheral edge in contact with the pole pieces 12 and 12 in standstill state is zero or exceedingly small. Since each of the surface tension of the fluid 26 and the magnetic attractive force is sufficiently larger than the centrifugal force Fo on the outer pheripheral edge of the fluid 26, splashing is prevented. |
