PURPOSE:To obtain an amorphous toner superior in characteristics by polymerizing a monomer composition containing at least a radically polymerizable monomer and a colorant in a dispersion medium and adding a silane coupling agent in this dispersion or treating the produced polymer particles with the silane coupling agent. CONSTITUTION:The polymer dispersion is coagulated into amorphous particles by adding the silane coupling agent to the reaction system and a water-hardly soluble fine inorganic powder is allowed not to adversely affect electric chargeability of the toner by treating the surfaces of the polymer particles with the coupling agent. It is preferred to add the agent in the course of the polymerization reaction having proceeded not so as to cause uniting of the particles or after the end of the polymerization, thus permitting the amorphous toner superior in chargeability characteristics to be obtained. |
