PURPOSE:To enhance the power generating efficiency of a fuel cell by uniformly extending pores in a porous cathode in the direction of thickness in the cell in which a solid electrolyte layer is interposed between a porous anode and the porous cathode. CONSTITUTION:A porous cathode 12 has an isotropic porous layer having pores in a thin cathode part in contact with a solid electrolyte layer 13 and has large pores which uniformly extend in the direction of thickness in the other cathode part. Since the gas diffusion direction coincides with the direction of thickness, diffusion distance is shortened, and gas diffusion resistance per pore is decreased. High permeability in the direction of thickness and high electric conductivity in directions of thickness and length are satisfied, and the power generating efficiency of a fuel cell is enhanced. |
