PURPOSE:To activate chlorinated water and to completely and rapidly remove the iron rust in a water supply pipe, etc., by using the material for removing iron rust consisting of an essential component of an iron oxide and auxiliary components, etc., of oxides of Cu, Ni, Cr, Zn, etc. CONSTITUTION:The iron oxide which is the essential component, 2 to 15wt.% auxiliary components and further a sintering assistant are kneaded, molded and dried and thereafter, the molding is sintered at 1200 to 1600 deg.C. The above- mentioned auxiliary components are selected from the oxides of Cu, Ni, Cr, Zn, Co, Mn, Mg, Ti, V, Sn, Ba, Y or Gd. The above-mentioned sintering assis tant is selected from silicic acid, silicate, aluminum oxide, and aluminum salt. The material for removing iron rust which consists of the sintered body mentioned above and is formed by depositing the above mentioned auxiliary components by evaporation on the surface of the sintered body is loaded into a reactor and the chlorinated water is passed therethrough to form the active water. This active water is brought into contact with the iron rust in the feed water pipe, by which the iron rust generated on the inside surface of the feed water pipe is removed. |
