<p>PURPOSE:To perform a stable fixing action regardless of the size of a transfer material by providing a means for detecting the length of the transfer material in a conveying direction and controlling the height with respect to the nip part of a transfer material guiding means according to the detected value. CONSTITUTION:The transfer material S is conveyed to guiding plates 22a and 22b to make the lever 20a of a detection means 20 fall. Then, the transfer material S is conveyed to a transfer part T by a pair of resist rollers 21. In the case that a time when the lever 20a falls is longer than a set value, it is decided that the transfer material S is long and a fixing entrance guide 6 is moved to a high position. Meanwhile, the transfer material S is conveyed to the fixing device by the conveying guide 6 after the transfer is performed to the transfer material S in the transfer part T. The leading edge of the transfer material S abuts on a fixing roller 7 at a point Q. By continously conveying the transfer material S, the material S starts to bend with conveying force which is received on its trailing edge. The impact at the time when the transfer material S advances to the nip part N is absorbed with the flexibility. Therefore, the unfixed toner in the midst of transfer is not disturbed and the stable fixing action is performed.</p> |
