PURPOSE:To prevent surely entry of a coolant to the inside of a casting mold and scattering of the leaking metal with a metallic belt type casting mold of a titled device by providing partition pieces for sealing in the joint part between metallic belts and short side pieces sandwiched by said belts. CONSTITUTION:The rear surfaces of a pair of endless of ended metallic belts 1 are respectively supported by belt guides 2. A coolant 4 is ejected from ejection holes 3 provided on the guide 2 side to form a thin coolant film layer between the rear surfaces of the belts and the guides. A billet 5 is cooled via the belts 1 by such thin film layers. On the other hand, short side pieces 6 are inserted and disposed between both end edges of the respective belts 1 and are sandwhiched by belts 1 and at the same time, said pieces are moved or fixed so as to slide with the surfaces of the belts 1, thereby cooling the side surfaces of the billet. The coolant 4 passes through the space between the guides 2 and the pieces 6 as shown by arrows or is recovered through the recovering holes 7 of the guides 2. Elastic partition pieces 8 for sealing are fixed to the piece 6 side and are brought into tight contact with the surfaces of the belts 1, by which the purpose is achieved. |
