The equipment has an air intake (11) which is brought close to a timber object (10) under investigation. A sensor unit (13) incorporates an electronic circuit with a number of MOS gas sensors (13a), each sensitive to a particular gas. A computer (16) analyses and presents the measurements, and has a memory for storage of at least one signal comprising a model for a specific type of timber. A comparator compares the output signal from the electronic circuit with the model signals in the memory, and a presentation unit (17) presents the result of the comparison. - The air intake has a part with a feed-in aperture (11a) which can be brought close to the investigated timber object, and an air suction device (14) working with strong vacuum causes an air current (L) to be impelled from the feed-in aperture to and past the gas sensors. The computer also incorporates an artificial neuron network. |
