A close-hauled rigging for a sailing boat, plane, wind machine, composed of a cylindrical mast which is exceptionally fat with respect to the sail, and of a sail which hollows out in its top part, and is preferably spread on the front axis of the mast. This rigging remains propulsive when sailing into a headwind and beyond. For high wind speeds the mast will be even fatter. <IMAGE>
