PURPOSE:To increase the amt. of molten metal and to improve the quantity of output of fibers by producing the arc between a torch and a blank wire to melt the same and supplying other wire material to the molten globules formed by this. CONSTITUTION:A disc 1 has many projecting lines 2 on the outside circumference and while it is cooled by the cooling water supplied through a pipe 3, it is rotated by a motor 4. A blank wire 5 supplied through straightening rollers 6 is connected together with a wall earth 8 to the positive electrode of a melting electric power source 9. The arc is generated between said wire and a torch 7 connected to the negative electrode, whereby a molten globule 13 is formed in the leading end part. A wire material 14 is supplied to this globule 13 to increase the amt. of molten metal, after which it is allowed to drop onto the lines 2, and fibers are thereby produced. The material 14 of the same material as that of the wire 5 is used to increase the amt. of the fibers. Besides, it is also possible to form the fibers into an alloy by using Si and other alloy materials. |
