The invention relates to a product representing the shape of a natural shell valve. It relates to a product formed from a ceramic and whose external convex surface (16) reproduces the ribbed pattern (18) of a natural valve. According to the invention, the flat part (20) formed directly by moulding and which provides stability to the product when it is standing, is sufficiently small that it is not at all apparent in the internal surface. The product produced therefore has the pattern, appearance, physical properties and in particular the weight of a natural shell valve which it can advantageously replace.
