PURPOSE:To produce Ti-Pd series shape memory alloy fine wire used to comparatively high temp. type actuator, etc., by using the alloy of composition composed of the specific content of Ti and the balance substantially Pd. CONSTITUTION:By an apparatus forming liquid layer of water for cooling with centrifugal force by rotating a rotary drum 1, the alloy having composition composed of 49-50% Ti and the balance Pd is melted under Ar atmosphere at temp. higher than m.p. of the alloy by 50 deg.C. This molten metal is injected into the liquid layer 5 from a spinning nozzle having the prescribed diameter by controlling Ar gas pressure introduced to a crucible 6 through an introducing pipe 12 for Ar gas. The alloy fine wire obtd. in such way is quenched after annealing at 800 deg.C for 2hr under Ar gas atmosphere. In this result, this contains low oxygen, as well as displaying the shape memory characteristic. In such way, the Ti-Pd series shape memory alloy fine wire can be directly obtd. from the molted metal at a low cost. |
