The invention relates to a device for triggering the safety stop devices of lifts in the event of overspeed. It consists of a casing (1) which encloses a pull-cord (2). The latter is actuated by a cable (3) itself immobilised by a speed limiter of a known type. The pull-cord in turn actuates two sheathed cables (8) (9) which trigger the safety stop gear. <IMAGE>
