CATALYST FOR STEAM REFORMING OF HYDROCARBON

PURPOSE:To form a catalyst for steam reforming having a long service life and high activity by supporting Rh and/or Ru and Co and/or Mn on a zirconia and/or stabilized zirconia carrier. CONSTITUTION:Prescribed amts. of water soluble compds. of Rh and/or Ru and Co and/or Mn are dissolved in water or a prescribed amt. of a water soluble compd. of K and/or Ba is further dissolved to prepare an aq. soln. contg. catalytic components. A prescribed amt. of this soln. is supported on a zirconia and/or stabilized zirconia carrier by impregnation, dipping, spraying or other method and then the carrier is dried and calcined to produce a catalyst for steam reforming of hydrocarbon. When this catalyst is used, the deposition of carbon is remarkably inhibited and a long service life is ensured. Even in the case of a low steam-carbon ratio and a high space velocity, the amt. of carbon deposited is very small and the catalyst has high activity.
