PURPOSE:To obtain the superconducting ceramic provided with high mechanical strength and environmental resistance without deteriorating its critical temp. and superconductivity by adding a specified amt. of Zr or Hf to the ceramic. CONSTITUTION:The superconducting ceramic is obtained by sintering the material having a composition shown by the formula. The Y in the ceramic is not replaced by Zr or Hf, but the Zr or Hf is added without changing the ratio of the constituent elements in the base material. Consequently, a decrease in the superconducting phase due to the mixing of the Zr is prevented, the superconductivity is not deteriorated, and a superconductor having the strength equivalent to or higher than that of the substituted ceramic is obtained. In addition to having the equivalent strength, the ceramic has superconductivity such as Tc superior to that of the superconducting ceramic obtained by mixing Zr and Hf by substitution. |
