PURPOSE:To correct a coated fiber to a desired shape by inserting the coated fiber into a correcting jig, then housing this correcting jig into a heat accumulator kept at the temp. near the softening temp. of the coating material of the coated fiber, uniformly heating the coated fiber, then taking the correcting jig out of the heat accumulator and cooling the fiber. CONSTITUTION:The heat accumulator 3 is previously mounted to a heater 4 and the heater 4 is operated by closing a switch 5 to heat the heat accumulator 3 up to the temp. near the softening point of the coating material of the coated optical fiber 1. The coated optical fiber 1 curved by having a winding habit is inserted into the fiber insertion part 21 of the correcting jig 2 and thereafter, the correcting jig 2 housing the coated optical fiber 1 is taken out of the heat accumulator 3 and is allowed to cool to rest the coated optical fiber 1 until the coating material thereof restores ordinary temp. The coated fiber 1 is then taken out of the fiber insertion part 21 of the correcting jig 2. The coated fiber 1 is corrected as desired with the shape and accuracy of the fiber insertion part 21 formed in the correcting jig 2. |
