PROCESS FOR DEPOSITING AN ADHERENT METALLIC COATING ON CERAMICS

Ceramics are provided with a metallisation of high adhesive strength by: - action of gaseous boron halides on the ceramic surface in a glow discharge zone, - dipping of the ceramic articles into alkaline, neutral or acidic aqueous solutions, - activation of the ceramic articles in solutions of metal compounds, especially rare metal compounds, and - chemical metal deposition on the activated ceramic surface.
