A tool for beaker prodn. from thermoplastic film using a deep drawing technique is designed such that a constant beaker rim thickness is achieved independently of other varying parameters. The tool consists of two halves, the top half having upper, middle and lower plates, the lower two of which have bores in which an axially moving clamping ring is located. The bottom half is formed of a bolster plate and a die plate contg. beaker moulds. Special features of the tool are a crossbar to which all clamping rings are rigidly fixed and at least two bars attached to the crossbar and passing through the top plate. Stops on the base plate control tool closure height and hence beaker rim thickness. Precise calibration of the inner contour of the beaker rim can be achieved by use of a movable insert within the clamping ring.
