Improving uniformity of rotary stirring - by auxiliary element and periodically changing flow pattern round stirrer

The rotary stirrer mounted on an axial shaft in known manner in a container for liq and or solids has its action improved by periodical changes in the flow pattern formed by the stirrer. The changes are produced by a flow guide device located between stirrer and container wall, and made to periodically alter its position, these changes being controllable in amplitude and speed. The guide may be pivotally coupled to the container floor, or take the form of a surrounding ring or radial inward projections from the container wall vicinity. ADVANTAGE - With constant alteration of the internal flow path, stirring effect is more uniform throughout container.
