A trailer or semi-trailer of the type which has at least one roof support post releasably lockable to the trailer or semi-trailer to secure it in a vertical position in which it supports the roof of the trailer or semi-trailer is described. The post (2) is releasably locked at its lower end to bottom rave of the trailer by locking means comprising a hook secured to the post which is so arranged that it can be latched in a socket provided on the rave of the trailer or semi-trailer with the post in the position at an angle to the vertical. The hook (28), when latched in the socket, serves to hold the post (2) in a desired position along the trailer as the post is moved into the vertical roof supporting position. The latching of the hook (28) in the socket preferably not only holds the post on the trailer or semi-trailer when it is in the vertical position but also prevents any lateral movement of the lower end of the post in this position.
