Ceric oxides containing at their surface grafts of formulae Y3SiO- or Y3Si(OSiZ2)n-O-, Y and Z denoting monovalent hydrocarbon groups such as especially alkyl radicals containing from 1 to 10 carbon atoms. These ceric oxides can be obtained especially by treatment with hexamethyldisilazane. Silicone compositions including such treated ceric oxides, making it possible to obtain silicone elastomers with improved flame resistance.
