<p>The apparatus comprises a light source 3 in the form of a circular ring, an optical doublet 4 and a matrix-configured camera 5 onto the objective of which the doublet 4 transfers the elliptical image of the source 3 given by the cornea 2 of the eye 1. An electronic card 15, connected to the output of the matrix-configured camera 5, supplies, from a video signal composed of a plurality of video lines and coming from the camera 5, a plurality of numerical values describing the elliptical image. A microprocessor element 19 receives and processes this plurality of numerical values in order to extract data on the value of the large radius of curvature, the small radius of curvature and the angular position of the principal axis of the cornea 2. The keratometric automatic-measurement apparatus, which can be used in ophthalmology, can advantageously be combined with an automatic refractometer. <IMAGE></p> |
