Electrode arrangement esp. for electrolytic deposition of metal ions has the novelty that the cathode (12) comprises a flexible endless band held on the essentially parallel side parts (4,5) of a frame made of insulated material. Both ends of at least one side part can move laterally. The anode (11) is constructed as a flexible sheet and is located to tension the flexible cathode so that the side parts are forced apart from one another. One or both side parts (4) have a groove (13) in which one part of the cathode (12) is clamped by a rod (14) with an electrically conducting surface. USE/ADVANTAGE - System is esp. used in electroplating, pickling and the mfr. of Cu-based printed circuits. Specifically it is used for recovering metals from waste process water. The cathode is readily exchanged, has a limited cost and provides a sure and simple electrode contact method.
