摘要 PURPOSE:To easily correct the position by determining a point finally left after a series of AND operations as the current position on a road map. CONSTITUTION:At a signal processor 3, the number of pulse signals from a distance sensor 1 is counted to detect the running distance of a moving object, and the advancing direction is obtained based on output signals from a direction sensor 2. Accordingly, the current position on the X-Y coordinates of the moving object is successively computed per every constant running distance. The data of the current position obtained in the device 3 is stored in a running locus memory device 4 and displayed by a display device 7. In order to correct the current position having a positional error to a road map, AND operations are conducted for the original road map and a road map which is digitally binarized per every pixel in correspondence to the shape of the running locus of the moving object while the binarized road map is shifted step by step. A point finally left after a series of the AND operations is decided to be the current position on the road map, based on which the positional error is corrected.
