The invention relates to a method and device for characterising the structure of a sample of porous material. The following are provided: a measurement chamber (24) intended to receive the said sample (25), means for introducing into the chamber a body having a superfluid state, drive means (35) for causing a movement of the said body, means (36,37,38) for measuring a physical parameter associated with this movement, and a processing unit (8) arranged to control the said drive means, record the measured value of the said physical parameter, and deduce therefrom a characteristic of the texture of the material of the sample, such as its permeability. <IMAGE>
