The present invention relates to a swimming pool cover which can be converted for summer/winter use. It consists of a cover combining, on the one hand, a thin and flexible material formed by a layer (7) whose density is sufficiently low to allow it to float on the water, and one or two layers (8) which are sufficiently strong to hold a person who has fallen in accidentally, and, on the other hand, means which make it possible to vary the dimensions of the cover made of this material, in order to adapt it to summer and winter functions.
