ELECTRIC CABLE WHICH HAS ARMOR OF POLYMER MIXTURE CONTAINING INSECTICIDE

PURPOSE: To protect the sheathing of an electric cable from being eroded by insects such as white ants by using an effective and harmless amount of methrine incorporated in polymer mixture for insecticide. CONSTITUTION: An electric cable which is resistant to insects such as white ants has a vulcanized or thermoplastic polymer sheathing containing an insecticide which contains an effective and harmless amount of (about 0.01-0.1wt.%) methrine incorporated in a polymer mixture to be used at about 200 deg.C. The sheathing is formed of polyvinyl chloride or thermoplastic elastomer (e.g. ethylene/acrylic vinyl copolymer or other full-polymer, processable at 200 deg.C or less). In this way, a polymer mixture which is effective in insect repelance and killing moreover harmless to a human being is provided.
