Fabric stamp - gives point penetration along cutting line of tensed fabric in cutting zone

To stamp a section from a fabric, the workpiece (2) is first stretched near the planned cutting line (23) and across it. The material is then pierced at spaced points, and then parted along the line joining the points. Pref., only the part of the fabric (2) near the cutting line (23) is tensed by drawing it over a deflection edge on both sides of the cutting line (23). For a three-dimensional shape and cut, the cutting is effected while the fabric (2) is on a pliable support surface (8), while drawn under tension on both sides of the cutting line (23). The cutting gap (5) is defined on both sides by long edges (20,21). Retainers (14) are on the blade side to project from the blades (3) to strike the workpiece (2) before the blades (3). Further pressure along the long edges (20,21) gives point perforation along the cutting line (23). ADVANTAGE - The method gives an accurate cut to thin materials, and stretch fabrics, even when on a pliable support surface.
