<p>In a device designed to attach one or several lengths of metal wire (8) onto a metal object (7), a strand of wire (9) is advanced by means of a driving mechanism (10, 11, 12) from a reel of wire (2) up to the point of attachment (20) on the object (7) and so as to project a distance (C) therefrom. By means of its electrode (17) a welding head (16) holds down the strand (9) against the object, welding it to the latter. During the holding-down and attachment operation a tensioning mechanism (5) exerts a tension load on the strand, resulting in the length of wire (8) separating from the strand when the metal fuses at the point of attachment (20).</p> |
