An after-market running board assembly for attachment to the chassis and/or body of an automotive utility vehicle includes an extruded step (14) and a semicircular trim strip (16) secured to an outer edge of the step by a plurality of connector clips (82, 106). The step includes T-slot channels (40, 42) which capture bolts (114) secured to connector clips (82, 106). Each clip has a hook (90, 124) on its outer end that is engaged with a slot (76) formed in a continuous reinforcing and connecting member (60) that is an integral part of the inner edge of the trim strip (16). The same channel T-slots (44, 46) capture bolts (130, 132) that secure transverse angle irons (18, 20) to the step for mounting the running board assembly to the vehicle. |
