The cutting insert (2) of a tool for a machine tool is fixed to the tool body and can be positionally adjusted by means of an elastically deformable stop (12). The stop (12) is formed from a rectangular block of metal with an elongated hole (22) which extends over almost the entire length of the block. Each side of the hole (22) has a recess (38) to receive the conical head (30) of the fixing bolt (24). The fixing bolt (24) engages a screw thread in the tool body. As this screw is tighted the conical head deforms the wall of the elongated hole which is pressed against the side of the cutting insert (2). USE - Tools for machine tools.
