Optical cable with load bearing elements - in which soft wax or elastomer sealant does not damage or influence strength of bond layer between elements and outer sheath
摘要
An optical cable with parallel running load bearing elements between the optical fibres and the outer sheath uses an adhesive layer to bond the load bearing elements to either the outer cover or to a metal band located between the two. To prevent water seepage along the load bearing elements a material is introduced between the individual elements which contains no components liable to penetrate the adhesive or affect the bond strength. Materials for sealing the load bearing elements are waxes, gels, soft resins or elastomers which be EVA, PU or oil-free polyamide based hot melt adhesives. USE/ADVANTAGE - Prevents tensile strength variation in optical cables caused by temp. changes.
