A flexible plastic prod. is in the form of e.g. a floor mat. It is a sheet with a flat top face on at least two parts; it has a bridging part with flat top face which joins together the top faces of the two other parts mentioned but whose thickness is less than that of those parts; it has at least one jointing part whose top face matches the underside of the bridging part and whose underside joins together the undersides of the two parts mentioned. This jointing part is made of thermoplastic polyurethane, thermoplastic polyester, natural or synthetic rubber, or unplasticised PVC and with a Shore a hardness of approx. 55 to 85. The figure shows an example in the form of a floor mat for a chair. It has the top (11) and under (12) sides and a thickness of typically 2.5 - 5 mm. The top face (11) can be smooth or have any suitable decorative relief pattern. The edge can also be tapered so as to ease rolling a chair over them; ribs on the underside make it more difficult to slip. The top face (11) has two parts (16, 17) divided by the bridging section (18); similarly the undersides of the parts (16, 17) are joined by the section (20). Both bridging (18) and joining (20) sections run across the whole sheet. But they must not be visually apparent. They must a therefore have the same degree of e.g. transparency and the same texture as the rest. The top side of the join (20) has a cycloidal cross-section whilst its base surface is flush with that of the parts (16, 17). The underside of the bridging section (18) matches the convexity of the join (20). |
